At the time when the production number of the W123 model assembled in Sindelfingen hit two millions, engineers from Mercedes-Benz were already planning how to make this car even better. The list of improvements introduced from year to year included not only design, equipment, safety and aerodynamics. It was installed in the W126 with the long body designated as SEL and in the coupe with the SEC designation.
