For many years, Mercedes diesel engines have had many loyal fans, especially in case of classic lines as those in the W126 model. Mercedes 300SDL Turbo W126, launched in the US and Canada in 1986, was a breakthrough model and the first “long” S-Class vehicle with a diesel engine. SDL had additional space in the interior clearly noticeable for the rear seat passengers. The long version of the body and a completely new engine design provided an interesting alternative to other petrol-fuelled Mercedes cars.
The new engine is structurally based on the well-known and popular diesel engine used in the W124 model. However, the 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder OM603 engine was more powerful than its predecessor. The turbo-diesel reached the power of 150 hp, which is 60 hp more than the basic version without supercharger, and approximately 30 hp more than the previous five-cylinder diesel engine.
Production of the 300SDL ended in September 1987. In total, only 13,830 vehicles were produced, so finding one of them in a condition suitable for collection is not easy.
Our Mercedes-Benz 300SDL W126 is equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission. The body has a new paint coating in the original Astral Silver colour. The interior is stylish with its beautiful blue leather upholstery and colour-matching carpets, lining and a dashboard.
The Mercedes engine has been removed, sealed, equipped with new filters and refilled with fresh oils. The headlights were replaced with the European version.
